Zlatko Yanakiev

is an architect, furniture, and product designer with a passion for parametric and generative design. Yanakiev graduated from the University of Architecture, Civil Eng. and Geodesy (UACEG in Sofia) with a Master of Architecture (m.Arch.). His Ph.D. consists of the development of an educational discipline in the field of contemporary architecture. It is a response to the issues originating from the rapid implementation of informational technologies, as a means of algorithm building, as an integral part of the design process. The discipline offers a solution to the problem of blind use of tools, without a full understanding of their capabilities, goals, or issues. It aims to improve understanding, by introducing General Systems Theory, as a guide in research, analysis, and synthesis in the architectural practice of computational design.

After several years in architecture, Yanakiev transitioned to the world of furniture and product design, quickly ascending to the role of a Lead Designer at a prominent company in the industry. Yanakiev's innovative approach to design incorporates his deep understanding of architectural principles, while his technical background ensures practicality and functionality in all his works. Yanakiev also provides design and technological production consultancy at Meshroom, an industry-leading visualization studio based in central London, leveraging his experience to help businesses optimize their design processes and product outcomes. With a keen eye for detail and a relentless pursuit of perfection, Yanakiev continues to push the boundaries of design, creating products that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also technologically advanced.
